If it was the heater clicking, it was probably just cooling down and the elements and other pieces moving around.
If it was the socket doing that it would signal that it was indeed too hot and not a proficient choice for the heater. Or possibly that the socket is old and no longer makes a firm contact with the plug; if that is the case (the plug is very easy to put in and out of the socket) it should probably be replaced.

Hi i had my fan heater pligged into my socket in the wall and information technology was on full the plug was warm then i unplugged it and when the plig was out of the socket it make a clicking sound like someone was turning it on and off cpuld it be the heater has been to warm for the socket

@Maxine I am not a forensic good, but information technology seems unlikely that with the transformer gone yous will exist able to prove annihilation at all. It sounds more like you are overloading the circuits in your home and of form the faulty extension cord.

My house just burned and it was a full loss. The fire marshal determined that it was caused by an extension cord that I had a minor electric heater plugged into. The extension cord was one of the power surge cords. After the fire my neighbor told me that all of his lights had went out earlier my fire and the electric company came out and replaced the transformer. One year ago I had a mobile habitation sitting on the belongings and it burned, a total loss. Thinking of all this I'grand wondering if the transformer could have caused these fires. For sometime I had been having problems with breakers blowing and we would flip them and they would be good and then some other would blow. I couldn't believe that with the size of the entrance box a billow would blow. Information technology didn't seem to be a trouble more than than having to go to the basement every time to reset the breaker. What should I do well-nigh this and how can I observe out at present if the transformer was the cause of the fires?

I tried placing new tv farther away too - still blurry.

Roto Rooter came and and then sent a restoration team the put several machines throughout the house and in the kitchen they had atleast 4 machines in the 4th nighttime I smelled something coming from the kitchen and I felt one of my switches it was and then hot I couldn't affect it
I immediately unplugged everything and after awhile I felt the switch that had already melted and information technology had cooled downward
I chosen Roto Rooter and they have not rectified the trouble merely take bullied me and said lets become to court
I had never even mentioned courtroom

Went out about 2 hours later they were off, all overhead lights in the house, the refrigerator was off, the wall socket in the living room and one in the kitchen worked. When I checked the fuse box even with a huge role of the business firm affected there were no more fuses tripped, yet just the i. How can that exist? How can the aforementioned fuse which tripped for ii rooms now have added virtually of the house to information technology please?

I'm non familiar with gas stoves at all (never had one) just have seen the electrical igniters used. And aye, a short could definitely start a fire. It does seem like the gas would have to be on, merely as I said I'thousand non familiar with the ins and outs of a gas range.
A short, though, tin can very slowly develop as insulation is degraded. Eventually there is a trickle of current, which heats and further degrades the insulation. As more time passes that trickle becomes enough to make a spark or to activate something else and presto: a fire begins.
Or, equally happens in an outlet, the connection is poor, giving rise to rut. Heat which again degrades the metallic, insulation and plastic of the outlet until it becomes a real trouble

Hi there- a few weeks ago, I was sitting in the living room with my kids and heard a ticking sound coming from the kitchen. I went in there and it was the gas stove which was not on, and had not been in use all day. It was making the clicking sound a gas stove makes when y'all turn the knob on, before a flame ignites. My husband took a await and slowly turned one of the knobs to see if perhaps it mysteriously was partially turned on, the ticking stopped, just inside seconds, a loud popping audio was coming from below the knobs and you could see red lights beneath the knobs too. From at that place, flames came upwards from the knobs and we had to pull out the burn extinguisher to stop the burn. The apparatus visitor is saying that over time, something like this could happen, and the repair person said that at first glance, it looks like a wire fastener needs to be replaced. I just find information technology difficult to believe that out of the blue, it would get-go fire. Thank goodness we were domicile and awake to realize what was happening! Could an electric brusque be the reason this happened, and is it viable for a brusk to occur when an appliance isn't in utilise?

Sounds similar your outlet has a problem. I would replace it as soon as possible. And yeah, if the outlet is faulty it could start a fire, fifty-fifty without having something plugged in - become this done quickly, and consider turning that excursion off at the breaker until it is repaired.
If a new outlet doesn't solve the trouble and so at that place is something incorrect with the vacuum.

My house was finished in 2009. Of course it has arc breakers, but I chose to supersede 2 of them with standard circuit breakers. I supplied power to both the master sleeping accommodation and the security system. Knowing that arc breakers are temperamental, I replaced that one with a standard circuit breaker to ensure that the security system would keep to work. The other arc breaker provided power to a concrete shed in the back m; in it is the irrigation system control. I too replaced that arc billow with a standard circuit billow.
I empathize why arc breakers be, but there trend to trip occasionally for no valid reason should be considered.

Only two suggestions, neither of which is likely. Get-go, some motors will trip a GFCI - that's why a garage freezer or fridge sometimes has a non-GFCI outlet. Second, it may exist overloading the excursion and blowing the breaker. You might try it somewhere else - living room, maybe - and see what happens.

I simply plug in my new foodsaver to Gfci outlet and information technology trip. On that wall there is two outlets that they share line. They made noise trip and of course I did unplug foodsaver merely now the second outlet is not working (would not recet) non the one that minor appliance was in utilize. While AFCI's do help forbid habitation fires, they are also prone to nuisance tripping and not all devices are truly compatible with these breakers. Some vacuum cleaners, for instance, will often trip an AFCI.

Sounds very much like either a loose connectedness somewhere (although not going off denies that) or more likely the switch needs replaced. Does the switch "feel" different when flicked? Is there a sparking sound? Is it warm? All tests that might help determine if it is bad.

We accept a light switch in our kitchen that has two switches. Ane for the kitchen and the other for the dining room. The switch for the kitchen tends to flick and just not plow on or become off. No outlets attached, but both lighting fixtures are ceiling fan with attached lights or just a chandelier with bulbs in the other. Whatever guesses before nosotros contact an electrician to explicate the possible outcome/problem or what nosotros ourselves should bank check? Thanks in advance for your generous help.

At about, it will be a contributing cistron, simply most wiring today is rated for 90 degrees C, or 194 degrees F - that's nearly humid temperatures. The circuit would have to already be overloaded or in some way defective for attic temperatures to fry it.

Without going into great detail, a ground system in a house does two things: it provides a path for free energy to accomplish the earth (or the generating station) without going through your body and it provides a path for partial brusk circuits to enable tripping a breaker rather than building to point something gets so hot it catches fire.
If your antennae was actually struck by lightning, the ground system provided a path for that electric current to reach the globe without going through all the wires and electrical appliances in your firm; a very good thing indeed as those wires cannot carry the current of a lightning bolt without overheating very badly. Your new ground wire could be why you still have a home.

@denisemai; those can lights may be nothing to worry most; many but push button upward into the framework and can work loose over time, allowing them to drop from the ceiling to the point that the wire is all that is holding them. Simply push them back up into the ceiling.
@Simply ask susan: Good selection - I've seen many older homes all the same using the old knob and tube wiring with no problems (outside of the fact at that place is no footing), just have e'er been afraid of it.

How-do-you-do Wilderness - One of the things that folks have to look out for is aluminum wiring. About of that is probably already replaced or burned out, but the connections dethrone due to the forming of aluminum oxide at joins.

This hub is incredibly useful, especially for a homeowner of an older domicile, like myself. I know there is much electrical piece of work needed in this home done by an experienced electrician. I take fears that the previous homeowner did much of the electrical work himself without knowing how to do things properly and someday there may be a burn down due to that. Time to phone call an electrician!
